What is 3G2?
A mobile multimedia container specified for 3GPP2 services. It is related to 3GP but has its own container conventions and codec allowances.
Tested output uses H.264 and AAC. Compatibility with every historical handset is not established.
Technical details
3G2 is the 3GPP2 multimedia profile built on the base media structure used by 3GP, with profile-specific extensions and limitations. [1]
Background and compatibility
FFmpeg describes 3G2 as the CDMA2000-oriented counterpart to 3GP; shared container ancestry does not guarantee identical codec support. [1]
