Where conversion happens
Choosing a file reads it into this browser tab. Previews and metadata are inspected here. If a working browser engine supports the chosen conversion, the file stays on your device. The workspace shows when a conversion requires server processing before you select Convert.
Temporary server copies
Server conversions send the selected file to our conversion service. We run the conversion engines ourselves; files are not forwarded to CloudConvert or another conversion provider. Each job uses isolated processing and private temporary storage. Remote copies are deleted after the result downloads or the job is cancelled. An expiry task removes abandoned jobs after one hour while the coordinator is running.
If server processing is unavailable, the workspace says so and does not upload the file. This site does not use advertising or analytics scripts. The hosting provider handles normal connection information such as IP addresses and request paths.
Server processing has request limits. A daily identifier derived from your network address counts conversions without storing the address in job records. These counters expire each day.
What the site downloads
Your browser downloads this website, its fonts, format icons, and the engines needed for your chosen task. The media engine is about 32 MB, the image engine about 14 MB, the archive engine about 1 MB, and the Office engine about 79 MB. Each loads when needed. These requests carry normal connection information, such as an IP address, but no selected file contents. The hosting service may use its own access controls and connection logs.
What stays in memory
Original files, extracted metadata, previews, and results are held in your browser session. Browser conversions do not save file contents to local storage. Server conversions use the temporary storage described above. Clearing the workspace releases the file references and preview URLs; closing or reloading the tab ends the workspace session. Your original files on disk are never overwritten. The service worker adds browser isolation headers for local Office processing; it does not store selected files or results. Office macros and external-link updates are disabled.
Preview safety
Text and document contents are displayed as text. User HTML and scripts are never executed. SVGs with active content or external resources are rejected. Hosted conversion engines have external network access disabled. A browser preview is not a malware scan, and downloaded files retain their original content unless your chosen operation changes it.
Sharing and downloads
Nothing is shared automatically. Downloads are initiated by you or an agent using the explicit download action. Agents operating this page can inspect names and metadata for files you have selected; treat the same page access as access to your workspace.
