What is Data Interchange Format?
A text-based format for exchanging spreadsheet values. DIF describes a table’s dimensions and stores cells as numeric or string records.
A single worksheet’s values are exported; workbook layout and rich formatting are not retained.
Technical details
LibreOffice Calc lists a Data Interchange Format filter for .dif files with the API filter name DIF. [1]
Background and compatibility
Command-line conversion can select the DIF input filter explicitly with --infilter. [2]
