What is Lzip compressed stream?
A single compressed stream using the lzip container and LZMA coding.
Server conversion requires a compatible engine we host and a verified file variant.
Technical details
A lzip file concatenates one or more members, each with a magic string, version and dictionary fields, an LZMA stream, and integrity data. [1]
Background and compatibility
Lzip stores compressed data but not archive paths, so a TAR layer is used when a compressed file must retain multiple names and directories. [1][2]
