What is Multiple-image Network Graphics?
A PNG-related format for multiple images and animation, including frame timing and transparency.
Animation can be retained when converting between GIF, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL, and MNG with default editing settings. Still-image exports use one frame.
Technical details
MNG is a PNG-like multiple-image container with animation and transparency control; its chunk model can also include JPEG image data. [1]
Background and compatibility
MNG grew from the PNG ecosystem to represent sequences and animation; readers must process its animation stream rather than only a still frame. [1]
