What is MPEG?
A program-stream container that combines MPEG video and audio. Useful when older video editors or playback systems require MPEG files.
The tested output profile is MPEG-2 video with MP2 audio; MPEG is not a guarantee of DVD authoring compliance.
Technical details
MPEG/MPG can carry an MPEG-1 Systems program stream that multiplexes audio and video into packs. [1]
Background and compatibility
FFmpeg associates MPEG-1 program streams with Video CD tracks; the same extensions are used for related MPEG data, so inspect the stream. [1]
