What is Ogg audio?
An extension identifying audio stored in an Ogg container. Ogg is the container; the codec inside determines compression and playback support.
Tested output uses Vorbis. OGA and OGG can contain the same encoded audio.
Technical details
Ogg is a page-based container that can multiplex codec packets into logical streams; page sequence numbers and checksums support reconstruction. [1]
Background and compatibility
Ogg is a Xiph container rather than a codec; .oga conventionally signals audio-only Ogg, while .ogg may hold other codecs. [1]
