What is Portable Graymap?
A Netpbm image format storing grayscale samples. It is useful for exchanging monochrome intensity data between image-processing programs.
Color input becomes grayscale. Tested output is binary P5.
Technical details
PGM represents a grayscale raster with a declared maximum sample value; plain P2 uses ASCII samples and raw P5 stores binary samples. [1]
Background and compatibility
Netpbm's PGM is the grayscale member of the portable anymap family and is commonly used as an uncomplicated raster interchange. [2]
