What is Portable anymap?
The Netpbm family of portable bitmap, grayscale, and color image formats, often used by command-line imaging tools.
Exports contain a flattened raster image. Editing uses 8-bit browser display precision; original layers, metadata, HDR range, and scientific sample values are not retained.
Technical details
PNM is a family label for PBM, PGM, and PPM rather than one concrete bitstream; its members can use plain-text or raw binary encoding. [1]
Background and compatibility
Netpbm documents PNM as an umbrella name for its bitmap, graymap, and pixmap formats; the suffix alone does not identify which member is inside. [1]
