What is Portable Pixmap?
A simple Netpbm color-image format storing red, green, and blue samples. PPM is easy for software to read but is usually much larger than compressed web images.
No alpha channel. Tested output is the binary P6 variant.
Technical details
PPM represents a color raster as rows of red, green, and blue samples; it has ASCII plain and binary raw encodings. [1]
Background and compatibility
Netpbm treats PPM as the full-color member of the portable bitmap family, alongside monochrome PBM and grayscale PGM. [2]
