What is Quite OK Image?
A compact specification for lossless RGB and RGBA images. QOI focuses on straightforward, fast encoding and decoding with eight bits per channel.
The original pixel values are preserved by QOI encoding itself, but earlier resizing or color conversion can change them.
Technical details
QOI begins with a fixed header and encodes pixels with compact index, run, diff, luma, or RGB/RGBA opcodes; the stream ends with a sentinel. [1]
Background and compatibility
The QOI specification is released under CC0 and keeps the decoder model small through a 64-entry pixel index and simple run operations. [1]
