What is TAR.BZ archive?
A TAR archive wrapped in an additional compression stream; extraction requires both stages.
Server conversion requires a compatible engine we host and a verified file variant.
Technical details
A .tar.bz variant wraps TAR header and data blocks in a bzip2 compressed stream. [1][2]
Background and compatibility
The bzip2 program normally writes a .bz2 suffix, so check the outer stream signature when a file uses the shorter .bz spelling. [1][2]
