What is MPEG transport stream?
A packet-based container used for broadcast video and transport of synchronized media. A TS file may contain several programs or streams.
Output here uses H.264 and AAC. Only selected/default streams are converted; no broadcast service information is retained.
Technical details
MPEG transport stream multiplexes timed elementary streams in packets and carries program tables for stream discovery. [1]
Background and compatibility
Transport streams are used in broadcast and camera-disc workflows; MTS/M2TS suffixes are associated with AVCHD/BDAV variants whose details can vary. [1]
