What is Digital Picture Exchange?
A raster interchange format used for scanned film and visual-effects image sequences.
Exports contain a flattened raster image. Editing uses 8-bit browser display precision; original layers, metadata, HDR range, and scientific sample values are not retained.
Technical details
DPX stores digital-motion-picture image samples with header metadata for geometry, orientation, colorimetric values, and film/video origin. [1]
Background and compatibility
ImageMagick identifies DPX as the SMPTE Digital Moving Picture Exchange format, used for motion-picture image exchange. [1]
