What is Enhanced AC-3?
The audio coding format associated with Dolby Digital Plus. It extends AC-3 for more efficient delivery and additional channel arrangements.
Output is ordinary E-AC-3, not Dolby Atmos. Current conversion controls provide mono or stereo.
Technical details
E-AC-3 extends AC-3 with additional frame and channel coding options, including independent substreams for expanded channel configurations. [1]
Background and compatibility
Dolby Digital Plus is the enhanced AC-3 family; decoders need to distinguish E-AC-3 from legacy AC-3 bitstreams. [1]
