Tested output uses signed 16-bit big-endian PCM; AU also has encodings with different playback requirements.
AU file format guideThe audio coding format associated with Dolby Digital Plus. It extends AC-3 for more efficient delivery and additional channel arrangements.
Output is ordinary E-AC-3, not Dolby Atmos. Current conversion controls provide mono or stereo.
EAC3 file format guideChoose the sample rate, trim range, and mono or stereo output. Compressed audio formats can discard detail; converting to a lossless format cannot restore sound already lost. Container support depends on the codec inside the file.
