What is Radiance HDR?
An RGBE raster format that represents a wider brightness range than ordinary display images.
Exports contain a flattened raster image. Editing uses 8-bit browser display precision; original layers, metadata, HDR range, and scientific sample values are not retained.
Technical details
Radiance HDR commonly stores RGBE pixels: three color mantissas share an exponent to represent a wide luminance range compactly. [1]
Background and compatibility
ImageMagick identifies HDR as the Radiance RGBE image format, used to exchange high-dynamic-range lighting images. [1]
