Convert FITS (.fits) to SGI for free. Choose files, review the available settings and download your results. No account needed.
Flexible Image Transport System stores scientific arrays and metadata, especially in astronomy. FITS can hold more than a single ordinary display image.
Only supported image planes are decoded. Do not use a visual export as a preservation copy of scientific arrays, units, or headers.
FITS file format guideA raster image format native to Silicon Graphics workstations. SGI stores separate image channels and can use run-length compression.
Tested RGB/RGBA raster support; specialized channel arrangements and scientific semantics are not preserved.
SGI file format guideChoose dimensions and image quality before converting. Still-image exports keep one frame. Unedited GIF, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL and MNG conversions can retain animation. Animated edits use a GIF intermediate with a limited color palette. Canvas editing uses browser display precision and does not preserve original EXIF, HDR, or scientific image data.
Processing uses your device when possible and our servers when required. Browser files are limited to 256 MB each; server conversions to 64 MB; browser spreadsheets to 32 MB. Previews show supported content and do not guarantee identical rendering in every application.
